Disable or remove Microsoft Edge Legacy on Windows 10
The Edge (Chromium) browser is installed in: You will still see the Edge Legacy browser installed in: If you were running, but now would rather not run Edge Legacy side-by-side with Edge Chromium, you can follow the instructions outlined below to easily disable or remove Edge Legacy on your Windows 10 device. Do the following:
Press Windows key + R to invoke the Run dialog box.Copy and paste the file/folder path below into the Run dialog box and hit Enter.
Tap the BACKSPACE key on the keyboard.Right-click on the Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe folder.Click Rename.In this example, you can rename it as Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbweLEGACY.Hit Enter key.
You’ll be prompted with a confirmation message for the file operation. Click on OK and proceed with the operation.
If you encounter any issue, like the file is already in use, stop all the Edge Process from the Task Manager and continue. Once you complete the operation, the Edge Legacy browser should be disabled or removed. If you want the old browser back, just change the folder name back to the original name you made a note of previously. That’s it!
