Let’s assume that you are an IT admin in an organization and you want to use the same set of bookmarks in all the networked computers’ Firefox browsers. Instead of creating those bookmarks on each computer, you can create one set on one computer and use the Group Policy Import/Export method to apply them on all the other computers.

How to create Firefox bookmarks using Group Policy

To create Firefox bookmarks using Group Policy, follow these steps- At first, you have to open the Local Group Policy Editor. For that, press Win+R to display the Run prompt, type gpedit.msc, and press the Enter button. Once it is opened, navigate to the following path- Here you can find fifty settings named Bookmark 01, 02, and so forth. Double-click on Bookmark 01, and select the Enabled option. Next, you have to enter all the details to bookmark a page. For example, you have to enter the bookmark title, web page URL, favicon URL (optional), and a folder name (optional).

Also, you need to choose the Placement. For that, you can expand the drop-down list and choose either Menu or Toolbar. At last, click on the OK button to save all changes. Similarly, you need to repeat all these steps to bookmark multiple pages. As it has upto Bookmark 50, you can bookmark upto fifty web pages.

How to bookmark webpage in Firefox using Registry Editor

To bookmark a webpage in Firefox using Registry Editor, follow these steps- It is recommended to create a System Restore point before following these steps. At first, press Win+R to open the Run prompt, type regedit, and press the Enter button. Windows shows the User Account Control window after clicking the Enter button. If so, click on the Yes option. After opening the Registry Editor, navigate to the following path- Here you have to create four keys and sub-keys inside Policies. For that, right-click on Policies, select the New > Key option, and name it as Mozilla. Right-click on the Mozilla key, select the New > Key option, and set the name as Firefox.

Right-click on the Firefox key, choose the New > Key option and name it as Bookmarks.

In the Bookmarks key, you have to create different bookmarks according to your requirements. To create a bookmark, you need the URL, a title, favicon URL, etc. However, it is possible to organize them in one folder to manage them in the future. For that, right-click on Bookmarks > New > Key, and name it as 1. You have to enter the title, favicon URL, webpage URL as a separate String Value. To do so, right-click on 1 > New > String Value, and name it as Title.

Double-click on it and enter the title of your bookmark. If you do not set a title, it shows the favicon only.

Similarly, create the following String Values and enter the details as it says:

FaviconFolderPlacementURL

For the second bookmark, you need to create another sub-key in the Bookmarks key and name it as 2 and so on. That’s all! Hope this tutorial helps. Read: How to enable Firefox Bookmarks toolbar only on New tab page
